BAM! GW swooping in with the stealth FAQ. Rivers were cried because Foxes only get to move 2D6 after shooting you up, and in Lumineth lala land that apparently makes them unplayably shit. Boo frikkin’ hoo.

Is a monthly tidy-up FAQ too much? I can see why a lot of people don’t like it, because keeping up with this game is feeling more and more like a job. But personally, I thought it was quite well judged as a relatively modest touch-up on a handful of interactions. Yes these could all have been actioned at the quarterly Big FAQ, and no these mistakes should never have been repeated in the first place. But if the real-world choices are bewteen getting a few tidy-ups now or enduring two more months of nonsense, I’m all for the former. And when Callis and Toll do eventually get the bad touch, my hopes and dreams can be summarised as “to the Stone Age”.
Anyway. Welcome to our monthly catch-up on what we’ve been publishing recently here on Plastic Craic, along with a look ahead to what’s coming up in November. We’ve got a bunch of articles to look forward to, some PC community updates and best of all, an excuse to boast about how great we are celebrate our writing team’s latest competitive success!
Let’s get into it.
Ring the bell!
In last month’s update, we gave a big Craic House welcome to the latest member of our writing team, Zak Rockman. I told you Zak is a top competitive player and he’s already backed that up by adding another trophy to his packed cabinet, winning Lynbrook GT with his Tzeentch.

Congrats to Zak and also to our friend and Patron Hakan, who grabbed a podium with his own tough-as-nails Seraphon list. He’s beaten me a few times with that one now, so I’m gunning to take it down next time we roll dice!

Congratulations to both. Up next is Lost Legion GT in Geelong later in November – my Squigs will see you both there.
Indexhammer: October ’24
In October we published nine Age of Sigmar articles here on the main blog, plus a further ten over on our Patreon site.
Around the Craichouse
The biggest moment for us last month was the culmination of our Spearhead hobby challenge. We had a great time as a community working on these projects, with plenty of updates and encouragement along the way – and some of the entries were stunning. If you only click one link today, please click that one, because there are some really cool projects in there to be enjoyed.

Our other podiums were rewarded with a Mystery Box (we’re heading into summer here in Australia, so we packaged up a NSFW pool party kit) and a hobby package of basing materials.

Well done and thank you to all who got involved – and our next contest is firing up very soon! This time we’re going to push hard on a single model, and this is again open to all paid Patrons, so keep an eye out for that announcement next week.
Our Plastic Craic Book Club will be reading Sandman Vol 1 together in November, and then discussing it at the end of the month. And we’re also running a contest (just for fun) to identify the greatest artwork in the Warhammer fantasy canon (including WHFB, AOS and all adjacent settings such as Mordheim or Blood Bowl). There’s still time (just) for Patrons to make their nominations in the Discord, so get around it if you want to see your favourite represented.
AOS4
Zak’s debut article was an extremely exuberant review of post-FAQ Sylvaneth, and Pat’s review of Khorne was…well I wouldn’t call it exuberant, but it was pretty upbeat (in a downbeat kind of way).
Meanwhile Pete went through the State of the Desto Nation with his qualitative Tier List on every Faction in Team Green (plus the RORs), and stirred the hornet’s nest with a dumb interaction you need to understand around Manifestations (just add it to the list).
Tournament Coverage
Pat’s cult following enjoyed the travelogue, micro batreps and existential pondering that was his Sydney GT tournament diary. If you like the Pat Episodes, you’ll love it.
We welcomed back an old friend as guest reviewer in our SAGT List Review. We keep these snappy so you don’t have to plough through every list; just two hand-picked from every GA, so they don’t turn into a slog. This event was TO’d by our Patron Josh Clark and if you’re a Plastic Craic member who’s interested in having us rip the piss out of an event you’re playing in (or organising), drop us a line, and we’ll usually be able to rustle up the cattle for it.
On the Painting Table
We were delighted to showcase Craig Boyle’s award-winning Gloomspite Gits army. Put your sunglasses on, because this army pops! Loads of high-quality photos in here, and here’s a little taster:

We had a couple of hobby articles for our Patrons about using off-blacks and blending fire, as well as getting a nice dripping slime effect. It glows in the dark!

Coming up in November
Let’s take a look at what we’re working on for the weeks ahead:
- Pete will be delivering a guide to Endless Spells in AOS4 and some of the tricks you can pull, or interactions you need to know about.
- We’ve got a couple of Power Picks and Coolest Lists in the pipeline: one Australian event that half the writing team will be attending, and one all the way over in sunny Scotland.
- We’ll be running our showdown article on the greatest artwork in the Warhammer fantasy canon.
- Over on the Patreon, we’ll tidy up and share the Ironjawz Spearhead community rules that we’ve been working on together.
Craicheads
We’re rapt to welcome our new Patrons since the last update:

Thank you so much to everyone for getting involved.
We’re committed to giving our members good value by publishing an average of two AOS articles every week on the main site, in addition to the Patron-only posts on that platform too. We’ve been building up a pretty chilled community – a few people have said it’s the only Discord they don’t have on mute, which really blew us away. Our channel is members and writers only (No Dickheads Policy) so if you want to join us, you know what to do.

If you’d like to help us continue our work, we’d love to have your support. All Patreon Tiers include Discord access, exclusive articles and regular contests. Our Tiers are priced to be within everyone’s reach, so please click here to join us today!
