February 2025: A Month in Plastic

by Peter Atkinson

What happened in February? Well Gitmob launched, and that went about as well as England’s ICC Trophy campaign.

England wounding on 5s across the board

There’s already reports of discount stickers being slapped on those Gitmob boxes at retailers, and that’s not where anyone wanted this whole thing to end up. I haven’t bought one myself – I’m riding Bonesplitterz to the end of the road – but if you’ve made the purchase, I do hope you enjoy the minis, and let us know if you’ve cooked up a list that’s working for you.

Just don’t open it and everything is fine.

Anyway. Welcome to our monthly roundup of what’s been going on in the Craichouse, with a hitlist of what’s been published here on the blog and a catch-up on the Craichead community, plus a look ahead to what’s coming up in March.

Let’s get into it.

Indexhammer: February ’25

First up, Pat consulted our Patrons for their nominations on the top Honor Guard Sergeants doing the rounds currently, and selected his favourites among them:

And on the same subject, I made the case for my own personal favourite as a Patreon article.

We’ve progressed through our Global Campaign 2025, with write-ups on Rounds 2 and 3:

Round 4 (and thereby the whole Campaign) is currently drawing to a close, so check back for the final update soon. I’ve been writing up the denouement for each faction and their named characters, and the whole thing has been a lot of fun.

Meanwhile the team took a look at the lists for Southern Smash GT over in Adelaide, with our trademark blend of shit-canning the city itself and shit-canning the lists involved:

While Zak caught up with the other Cancon winner, Team Australia’s Liam Burnett-Blue:

And finally, we squeezed in a fast reaction to the Feb 25 FAQ which featured Battletome tidy-ups for Gloomspite and Ironjawz, some general housekeeping and one big balls-up that needs fixing ASAP:

Around the Craichouse

We sold out! Nope, we’re not going to start talking about Space Marines to get more clicks; we sold out of our Plastic Craic dice.

Goneski

Those Gen 1 Golden Craic dice are all either gone or allocated to Patrons. We do still have a bunch in hand that we’ll send out to higher-tier Patrons as their next annual allocation comes up, but they’re now removed from general sale and we won’t be doing this style ever again, so if you have got some, hang onto ’em. We’ll do a different batch in a little while and probably look at square corners next time up (as well as a different design), so keep an eye out for that.

We’ve also refreshed our bespoke Merch range at Gribbly Graphics:

Seanzor has designed a whole bunch of new hats and tees. I’ve grabbed one of these myself (apparently I just will not learn my lesson with white hats) so if you enjoy the blog, and you want to represent, you’re welcome to click that link.

I’ll model it for ya when it gets here

Craicheads

Well the big focus has clearly been our Secrets of the Agloraxi campaign, but we also finished reading Godeater’s Son in the Plastic Craic Book Club. We had a really healthy discussion about this one in the Discord thread afterwards – overall, a highly recommended read.

We’ll have a little pause on the Book Club in March and maybe circle back to new suggestions in April.

Our Footy Tipping Comps for both AFL and NRL have launched! It’s free and easy to enter, and there’ll be a small prize for each, so there’s still time for Patrons to check out the details over here and get involved.

At time of writing: NRL has only just started, AFL hasn’t started at all, so there’s plenty of time to get involved

We’re going with two Joker rounds per player (for double scores), so if you fall behind, you’ve got a puncher’s chance of catching up. And if you’re worried that you don’t know enough about Aussie sports to join in, bear in mind that there are Penrith supporters involved in this comp, and you definitely know more than them.

Patreon articles

In addition to the articles on the main site, we published a bunch on our Patreon site in February too:

There’s more photos in the article and the story behind this game is really sweet, so definitely check that one out.

So What’s Next?

Coming up in March we have:

  • The Global Matched Play Campaign is almost wrapped up, so find out who came out on top! Some of our players took their Campaign armies to competitive events, plus we’ve got a couple of thematic conversions to unveil and one legend share the story of that time he scored both Destruction Battle Tactics in one game. No mean feat!
  • Remember that Patreon article on The Lost Wargame I linked above? I’ll be following that up with a little more detail on the rules, including (hopefully) a pdf upload.
  • We’ve got a couple of Gargants articles lined up: one reviewing a strong 4-1 with Brodd’s Stomp, the other a hobby showcase for Nic Wright’s heavily-converted army. This one has to be seen to be believed.
  • Sadly we’ve put about as much effort so far into analysing those new Destro battletomes as GW did into writing them. The Global Campaign has taken the priority (and energy), but I’ll look into fixing that up in March, starting with an overview of Gloomspite tech and combos to watch out for.

The next focus after that will be catching up on a couple of article requests from our Patrons that have been stacked up, plus a follow-up on the Fantasy Art contest we started last year. And since the March update will likely come after the 1st April….we will be posting a spoof article again, so count this as your one and only warning.

Our biggest hope is to give our Patrons something worthwhile to read every week, and hopefully this program for March and beyond will deliver that for you. And in that spirit we’re rapt to welcome our new Patron Dardinos who joined since the last update. Thank you so much for your support. Our Discord is for Patreon members and writers only (No Dickheads Policy), and membership is priced at a level that everyone can afford – so if you want to join us, you know what to do.

Have a great month in March, nerds – see you on the other side.

If you’d like to help us continue our work, we’d love to have your support. All Patreon Tiers include Discord access, exclusive articles and regular contests. Our Tiers are priced to be within everyone’s reach, so please click here to join us today!
