Ladies and gentlemen, we had an FAQ! Tagged onto the Helsmiths post-book update, I’d argue that the biggest news was what didn’t happen: we Destro players had our breath held to see if the Gloomspite Chariots were gonna cop a correction – and they didn’t.

I’ve spent the last few weeks explaining to opponents that I certainly can move in their Movement phase, and being met with the same look of “I give up” bewilderment that my daughter must have seen when she tried to explain 6-7 to me.

So the Chaos Dwarves are starting to hit tabletops around the world, Ironjawz are having a refreshing moment in the sun, Gloomspite are low key filth and here in VIC we’re gearing up for a super long weekend because of a horse race1.
Seems like a pretty good time to be alive to me, so let’s take a stroll through what’s been happening in the Craic House over the past month, plus a look ahead to what’s coming in November.
Ready? Let’s go.
Indexhammer: October ’25
We started off the month with another one of Tim’s thoughtful hobby pieces, this time looking at display boards:
Next up, I took a look at competitive Gloomspite, specifically making the case for the classic Moonclan part of the book. Grots have often been overlooked in favour of Troggs in recent years, but we’re here for the little guy:
The Christmas boxes were announced, and I had all the opinions on them, including a couple of competitive lists built around the ones we liked. There’s a lot of advice in here on how to optimise the box contents and build out from there in an affordable manner:
I went to a GT! And took 4x Megas. Part one looks at the list, how it works and some hobby notes:
And part two runs through my games in a quick-fire manner, focusing on the big moments where they were won2 and lost3. Plus a few moments celebrating the pure joy of a weekend on the dice and beers with da boyz:
I’d definitely recommend King Brodd’s Stomp to anyone looking to run Sons right now – having played both this and SOB allegiance, KBS feels way better.
Around the Craichouse
Thank you and welcome to our latest Patron Eric Shattuck who joined up in October – we’re rapt to have you on board mate.
Welcome to the PC community, and let’s take a look at what’s been going on in our seedy little corner of the hobby.

The Ghyranite Treasures Hobby Contest
We mentioned last month that this contest was wrapping up: well Tim Barklay was the winner, and very well-deserved too. Check out his sweet kitbashes themed around his underground wrestling promotion project, and the pick of the other entries too:
Tim’s prize was a John Blanche paint set, a hobby prize for a hobby contest. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it – well done mate.

PC Book Club
Our next Book Club selection will be Starseer’s Ruin by the great Adrian Tchaikovsky:

AT is a big fish in the world of SFF so it’s a pretty big deal that he’s writing AOS. We’re expecting this one to go on pre-order this weekend, so pencil in the end of the year as a target finish date, and then we’ll discuss it together in the Discord.
Patreon articles
We publish regular articles on the Patreon site to support the people who support us. In October this included:
- More details on the PC Book Club selection, as mentioned above
- The high-definition final Campaign Map from our Secrets of the Agloraxi campaign, as a keepsake for those who took part
- A showcase of the Coolest Army at Bush Bash, Luke Doman’s sensational Greek Gods project
- An exploration of the insane recursion that Squig Herd can deliver, including some notes on counterplay
We also put out an announcement on the increased pricing for our lowest-cost Ardboyz Patreon Tier, which will be AUD $5.00 in future (roughly USD $3.50 or GBP £2.50). We were out on our own as being a lot cheaper than most other Patreons, but certainly not delivering the least – I know I’ve paid into other Patreons myself where I’ve contributed a lot more and received a lot less, so hopefully this still represents good value.
Every Tier comes with access to our Members-only Discord and our regular competitions, plus the annual PC Global Campaign, so if you enjoy what we’re doing here – we’d love to have your support.
So What’s Next?
Here’s a few things that you can look forward to in November 2025:
- Been wondering how pure Gitmob wins games? Me too, but Chris Riley has got it all figured out, with the wins to prove it. He’s gonna spill the beans.
- Orkmann has been putting a lot of thought into Helsmiths of Hashut and how they’re performing in their early days on TTS, so he’ll share some thoughts on how to make the army work (and how to play against it).
- Speaking of Helsmiths: Gabe Hanna of Runeaxe fame is a top hobbyist and long-term Chorf-fancier, and he’ll be sharing his progress with this army so far.
- And yes, blah blah Doom Diver blah. The arithmetic is easy, it’s the logic that’s taking ages to map out accurately. We’ll get there.

We always aim to give our Patrons something decent to read every week, and our Discord is for Patreon members and writers only. Membership is (still) very much priced at a level that everyone can afford – so if you want to join us, you know what to do.
Have a great month, nerds – see you on the other side.

If you’d like to help us continue our work, we’d love to have your support. All Patreon Tiers include Discord access, exclusive articles and regular contests. Our Tiers are priced to be within everyone’s reach, so please click here to join us today!
