November 2025: A Month in Plastic

Often in life, you find something that just doesn’t make any sense. After a while you don’t really accept it as such – it’s not like it starts making sense – you just kind of stop wondering about it. And so now that Careening Destrcution has sailed through another little FAQ, it’s become a fact of life – one to sit there quietly gathering dust in your mental background, alongside “How come it isn’t it called a suck job?”.

Vale, Emerald Games

I’d also like to say farewell to Emerald Games. Emerald were a pretty big fish in Australian Warhammer for a good long while, pioneering the “20% Discount and Afterpay” volume-seller model on these shores, and shifting huge pallets full of stock every week. I was sad to see this week’s statement to say that they’re shutting up shop.

We went with Gap Games as our Australian affiliate – their discount was a little bit bigger, their website was a little bit better, and they do regular extra promotions – but I’ve got huge respect for Emerald and I was a regular customer myself once upon a time. They used to post some pretty damn epic “Weekly GW Restock” photos on their socials back in the day, that’s for sure.

Sad to see the end of the road for a great business, and here’s wishing nothing but the best to all staff affected. Thanks for everything you did.

So with that said – let’s take a look at what’s been happening in the Craic House over the past month, plus a look ahead to what’s coming in December. Let’s get into it.

Indexhammer: November ’25

We published a smaller number of articles on the main site in November, but I’m pleased to say that they were all really well-received.

First up, Chris Riley went into a lot of depth on how he’s been winning games with Gitmob. I’m pleased to say that after publishing this, Chris picked up a 5-0 with the list last weekend. This is a very practical guide from a man who’s achieved a lot with this army in the crucible of the UK competitive scene, so get around it – I honestly think that this is one of the best articles we’ve published on the site in years.

And then I followed up myself with a few tricks you need to know for Gloomspite. None of these are rocket surgery, but they can be easy to miss if you don’t know about them:

And we finished off the month with a summary of what has changed in the FAQ that came through:

So although we’ve published a bit less volume than other months, the feedback we’ve had is that those articles hit the right notes and hopefully we can keep that quality up.

Around the Craichouse

Thank you and welcome to our latest Patron Drew Gallagher who signed up in November – much appreciated, and welcome to the PC community. So pull up a stained mattress and let’s take a look at what’s been going on in our seedy little corner of the hobby.

PC Book Club

We’ve launched into Starseer’s Ruin by the great Adrian Tchaikovsky:

A couple of people have blasted through this one and finished it already(!). I’m about a third of the way through it myself, and well on track to finish by the end of the year (which is our target), so I’ll catch you all in the discussion channel on our Discord then. Really enjoying it so far.

Patreon articles

Our Patreon articles for November included:

That takes us up to 65 Patreon-exclusive articles in 2025 and we should crack 200+ in total by the middle of next year!

And as a reminder in October we did increase the price on our lowest-cost Ardboyz Patreon Tier to AUD $5.00 in future (roughly USD $3.50 or GBP £2.50). We were out on our own as being a lot cheaper than most other Patreons, but certainly not delivering the least, so hopefully this still represents good value for people.

So What’s Next?

Well we trailed 4 articles this time last month, and actually delivered 2 of them, which is better than we usually manage. I’m disappointed that we weren’t able to deliver any coverage on Helsmiths but I didn’t end up playing the army myself, so I wouldn’t have the depth of knowledge to do them justice.

Maybe we can figure something out for them down the track, but in the interim, here’s a few things to look forward to in December 2025:

  • That Q4 Battlescroll we mentioned earlier will be getting a good old shake when it lands.
  • I’ve got a couple of personal articles to finish up: the Wargaming Miniatures painting comp we ran at the Kyneton Show, and the conclusion of our local Spring League.
  • I’m working on a hobby showcase of upcycled old Bonesplitterz models.
  • And it’s the traditional final-bullet-point Doom Diver Maths mention. I actually made a fair bit of headway on it in November, no lie.

We aim to give our Patrons something decent to read every week, and our Discord is for Patreon members and writers only, which keeps it convivial – a few people have told me that it’s the only Discord they don’t have on mute. Membership is priced at a level that everyone can afford – so if you want to join us, you know what to do.

Have a great month, nerds – see you on the other side.

If you’d like to help us continue our work, we’d love to have your support. All Patreon Tiers include Discord access, exclusive articles and regular contests. Our Tiers are priced to be within everyone’s reach, so please click here to join us today!
