Games Workshop Announces Move Into Family Boardgames

You thought the Adepticon reveals were big? Well Games Workshop have just announced to the Betoota Stock Exchange that they’re branching out into family boardgames:

“Sigmarines haven’t really landed with Genpop, so we’re taking our IPs to where the people are” said spokesperson Tony Clunge. Let’s take a look at that announcement for the first wave of releases in full. Over to, you Tony!

Monopoly

Monopoly is famous for two things:

  • Shoddy, dated game design
  • Shitting out mountains of money for its publisher

The synergy with our own approach was too clear to ignore, so we’re proud to announce that our first tie-in will be an homage to a timeless classic. This game will have Warhammer baked into its DNA from the ground up, and give you the experience of running an actual monopoly.

You start the game already owning every property, then simply pat yourself on the back for your business genius as you cut laps of the board accruing vast wealth.

Cluedo

Known as “Clue” in North America, Warhammer Cluedo sees customers and investors pick their way through nebulous references in the financial statements to try and figure out which product lines are actually performing well.

What are those “obsolete stock disposals”? Was it squatted Stormcast in the warehouse with a candlestick?  Or unsellable Skaventide boxes at Adepticon with the revolver?  The only way to find out is to play Monopoly Cluedo!

Whack-a-Mole

What do you do when your customers have spent hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars on the products you sold them?  You delete ‘em from the range, of course!

Welcome to Army Squat Whack-A-Mole, where the only thing standing between the shareholders and further riches is those assholes who keep playing games with those armies they bought.  Whack ‘em on the head!

AOS Chess

Speaking of anti-consumer behaviour, the grand old dame of wargames is ripe for a refresh.  White Advantage in chess is roughly 55-45 which is a pretty good place for a wargame to be, so let’s see what we can do to change that.

In Warhammer Chess, we’re updating the game to represent a thematic Lumineth vs Ironjawz clash. So the Order pieces are all Queens and the Destruction models are all Pawns.  We think this reflects their core thematic identity of all having the Aelf keyword, and hitting on 4s, respectively.  Flavourful!

Thanks for the update Mr Clunge! Looking forward to seeing what else is coming in the range.

And remember – this was published in Australia on 1st April 2026. So if it’s still 31st March wherever you are: it’s beer o’clock somewhere.
