Before we get into it properly today, can I make a wildly off topic observation? My socials for the past two months have been full of two comments time and again:
- “I can’t wait to see the back of Bounty Hunters”
- “The meta is the best it’s ever been”
Just my thoughts, but has anyone considered that point 1 might be feeding into point 2 in some way? It’s boosted combat and it’s suppressed Aelves, and both of these things are automatically and always good for the health of the metagame.
It’s also suppressed a lot of other stuff as collateral damage – I’m way more likely to run Squigs under the next handbook for example – but don’t come crying to me when you’re knee deep in Pink Horrors, or DOK and Namarti builds run all over the top of you, that’s all I’m saying.
Anyway. Back on topic. I’m having a fucking blast writing lists for Ogor Mawtribes, and I’ve got a few skew lists here for you today. It’s not exhaustive by any means – I haven’t even touched the random ass Bloodgullets and Thunderbelly lists being cooked up in our private Ogors chat – but it’s a good indication that there’s a lot to enjoy in this army, and as long as they leave it the fuck alone I could see myself playing Ogors for the next three years without getting bored.
So let’s smash into those lists. Ready? Let’s go.

The starting point here is double Battleshock immunity. The Tyrant limits Battleshock on his Warsrcoll, which is amazing when “can’t use IP” is the new big thing, so is losing one Gnoblar that much different than losing zero? And if not, is there any point in even taking the Command Trait to stop Gnoblars running away completely?

Well the point is that as rugged as the Deathcheater Tyrant may be, he is still just 8 wounds waiting to be sniped out. And that, my Gluttons, is the beauty of the new Bloodpelt Hunter: he essentially can’t be sniped out, because he can slip-slide around the Mawpot and make himself invisible to pretty much anything other than the fearsome Squig Gobba. So let’s say he’s pretty safe then.
That means you have to get there the hard way: wading through Gnoblar after Gnoblar after Gnoblar after Gnoblar, with none of them ever running away. We’d love to keep them in loads of small units but it’s important to keep your drops down, so you can spring the trap and get straight on the objectives. We might as well go Winterbite for the minor defensive bonus when our win condition is “exist, for a while”, and we’ll grab Ghost Mist to have a punt at making our Tyrant unshootable too, because that’s very much what we like to see.
It’ll be pretty bloody strong in a pack where they key missions are “Three Down Mainstreet” and you can set up your defensive layers, sprint onto two of the three objectives and set up camp for the duration. You could drop the Bridge and take 20 more Gnoblars to crash through the 300 wounds mark, but that puts you on 3 drops and every drop is critical when you have little to no capacity to punch people off a point.
While we’re on the topic of Gnoblars, if GW are going to nerf them, how about we go back to the old warscroll and reinstate their extra attack for being in large numbers? And I’ll have a fucking spicy Curse list ready to go instead.
It would be utterly bleak to play against, of course, but no worse than Pink Horrors in Host Duplicitous. That army really shouldn’t exist – a million wounds you can’t retreat from was taken away from Bonesplitterz because it was blatant bullshit, but Not Destruction have been allowed to keep it because they’re Not Destruction.
Here’s your opportunity to get your revenge on the world with a package that is not one-drop, but does have its wounds spread across far more units and with better Battleshock protection than the Horrors list. I think it loses the “mirror” against Horrors but doesn’t fold in quite the same way to the high-DPS specialists, so if you can face painting it (and playing it) there’s something there.

I’ve seen some really sexy Tyrant spam lists in Meatfist, enjoying the Brawlerguts Big Name to get him banging those charge mortals on every 3+. This take on the list is designed to take a meme concept and make it a bit more resilient and with fewer auto-lose matchups.

All of your Leadbelchers are active in every phase, putting out chip damage from shooting, battering out those charge mortals on a 4+ and holding their own in combat. With 176 wounds it’s way less likely to get punked than the Tyrant lists:
- Once a unit of Leadbelchers has taken 8 damage, they are still capping as 4 models and doing charge mortals on 5s.
- Once a Tyrant has taken 8 damage, he’s dead.
Again we’re going for a two-drop package and with layers upon layers of units ready to spread out and counterpunch, I think this would present a really unique and interesting challenge to play against. I’d love to have a crack at it if I was a retired millionaire, but sadly I am neither.

Ironblasters and Krondspine, ay? Well unfortunately for you I’ve got loads of mates so I don’t need more, and if I was brazen enough to run the Kunnin Rukk then there’s nothing that’s beneath me.
For anyone not aware the Command Trait lets you run keyword bold Maneaters units as Battleline, and Blackpowder is a keyword bold Maneaters unit. That gives us an excuse to run Blackpowder, which is exactly what I’m here for:
- He is still a Hero, meaning he is another source of Unleash Hell / All Out Attack on those Ironblasters
- His model is friggin’ sick
- He’s a smidge cheaper than a proper unit, so it’s that little bit easier to fit in Krondalicious
- His rules are half decent – he can slap a bit, and you’ve got the Achievement Unlocked aspect if you nick an Arcane Tome
- It will trigger the living fuck out of people

Other than that, it’s the standard Krondspine and Shooting combo that the likes of DOK have been pounding away at. Enjoy.

What’s next
I know Ironblasters have put a few people on tilt, and I do get why, but I’m also confident that I could beat that build with loads of my armies. My plan is to back up my big mouth by doing a full “How to Beat Ogor Mawtribes” article in the near future, focused on taking down the Underguts structures that are doing the rounds, because I think it’s very achievable.
Maybe you think I’m full of shit – and frankly it has been known – but I said the same thing about Sons of Behemat when they were at the top of the meta, and I barely ever lost a game to them. At the end of the day, it’s a DPS army with bad armour saves; an Ironblaster’s output is similar to a unit of Fellwater Troggoths but at 12″ range, so it’s nothing we haven’t seen before. The only time I’ve felt dirty using Ironblasters myself is when I give them Unleash Hell, which still feels like cheating and I just don’t think it should exist as a rule in the game. Make me King for the day and I’ll bin that and the coherency rules, then clock off before breakfast like all Kings should.
But before that, I’ll be back next week with your Glow-Up lists, so hit me up at PlasticCraicAOS@outlook.com if you’ve got any last-minute entries for me and I’ll take a look at what you’ve got.
Have an awesome weekend legends, and I’ll see you on the other side.
