The whole reason I launched Plastic Craic a few years back was to write the kinds of articles I would want to read. I love reading good AOS content, and I love listening to it too :
- Batreps for when there’s a new army you’re keen to see being put through its paces;
- YouTube shows and podcasts for when you’re driving or out for a run;
- And written articles for when you’re sitting on your throne.
Here at PC we enjoy all of the above, so let’s celebrate the best of AOS content in 2023 with The Plazzies. Today’s awards will be:
- Blog Article of the Year
- Achievement Unlocked of the Year
- Moment of the Year
- YouTube Channel of the Year: Batreps (nominated by our Patrons)
- YouTube Channel of the Year: AOS Coverage (nominated by our Patrons)
- Sex Face of the Year
- The Ones That Got Away
Ready? Let’s go.
Blog Article of the Year: Woehammer’s Top Three Lists Series
The Blog you need to know about, for the lists you need to know about.
https://woehammer.com/category/tournaments/top-three-lists/
Woehammer’s signature content is their ongoing series covering the Top Three Lists from AOS tourneys, which is a super useful way of keeping up with the meta as it evolves in real time. Whether you’re looking for ideas to steal inspiration for your own armies, or just need to know what’s winning, Pete and the team have got you covered.
I even write occasional guest pieces for Destro lists that have done well over there, and reading these articles is a really time-efficient way of keeping your knowledge of the game state up to scratch. Don’t underestimate the amount of time and effort that goes into chasing up all these lists and presenting them in a neat package: Woehammer does all the work, so you don’t have to. Long may it last.
Achievement Unlocked: No Rerolls
Hats off to Tavendale for hitting the big 365 in their blog streak this year:
Posting an article every day for a full year – and more – really is a superhuman effort. No Rerolls do cover AOS quite extensively amongst many other systems (with a big focus on RPGs), and the 5 on Friday ongoing series is a useful digest of what’s going on in the broader wargaming ecosystem, with some good reading material from across the web flagged up each and every week.

Congratulations mate – looking forward to the next 365.
Moment of the Year
This one will echo throughout AOS history. Well done to the Spanish AOS Worlds team.

Our guy Theo had boots on the ground at Worlds and got the full scoop on the Spanish team and their adventures, which you can read about here:
YouTube Channel of the Year: Batreps
For the next two awards, I picked a winner from the nominations put forward by our Patrons. I’ll give an honourable mention to Weak and Decadent, which is a channel I wasn’t aware of until it came up in the discussion for this award:
https://www.youtube.com/@weakanddecadent
These are full-length batreps with a very chilled approach, and well worth a look if you like the long ‘uns.
But the winner is Season of War:

Well produced, bite-size and competitive. This is the AOS batrep channel that the community wanted and needed for so long, and we can’t recommend them enough. And if they’re taking requests, I’d love to see more Destro representation on there too.
YouTube Channel of the Year: AOS Coverage
Another one nominated by our Patrons, and sometimes the most obvious answer is the right answer. We’ll celebrate whatever content we think is the best, no matter how small – or how big. These awards aren’t “Hidden Gems”, they’re “The Best”, and the best Age of Sigmar YouTube channel out there right now is Warhammer Weekly.

Over the last few years it’s fair to say that a lot of the energy in AOS coverage has migrated from Podcasts to channels, and you could throw a dart at a list of AOS YouTubers and come up with a very worthy winner. But the combination of the format, the three great hosts, the excellent guests, the interesting topics and the quality of their analysis puts WHW over the top.
Shout out to my Aussies who listen to Vince banging on about “It’s Wednesday” every Thursday, but it’s not their fault they live in the past. Congrats on another great year, gentlemen.
Sex Face of the Year
A traditional award handed out in the Plazzies, this year the prize goes to the Prince Adam NPC token from the (excellent) Clash for Eternia Masters of the Universe game:

His eyes rolled back in pure bliss, he’s all about that magical sword.
And the ones that got away
We’ll wrap up with a word of thanks and encouragement to a couple of formats that we’ve enjoyed over the years, and wouldn’t mind seeing making a return in 2024 or beyond:
- Measured Gaming Batreps. Short format, foul-mouthed, competitive and hilarious.
- Just Sayin’ Batreps. The live-audience format was good fun and I always enjoyed tuning in over my Friday morning coffee.
- Unidentified Wargamer podcasts. Anzo was and is an absolute natural at interviewing, and when he’s back in the wargaming frame of mind we’d love to see this series resurrected.
If I didn’t mention your show, channel or blog, don’t take it personally, I probably just think you’re shit ran out of space. In all seriousness there’s loads of great viewing and reading material out there, so please keep it coming, and we’ll do our best at this end too.
All the best for our readers in 2024: wishing you nothing but happiness, prosperity and successful prio rolls. Happy New Year.

Completely agree on Seasons of War. They’ve been knocking it our of the park. Woehammer continues to be excellent, too.
