Who’s ready to shoot some fuckers off then? Seems like a lot of you are, because we got a heap of entries for our Cogfort Listbuilding Challenge, where we asked for your non-Cities lists that showcase an Outlaw Cogfort:
There were two general themes to the lists:
- Max Power combos where you drop a hit-squad out of a Conqueror, shorten their 9″ charge somehow and then batter the opposition with juiced-up attacks;
- And shooting the shit out of people with a Cannonade.
Now annoyingly, the Cogfort dropped right before we cycled over to the new GHB, so some Soggy tech did become obsolete before it had a chance to shine. Points changes are generally not that big a deal here because most of these lists hinge around a Giga-Combo that you can comfortably fit into the list regardless, and at worst all that changes is the ancillary units perched around that central tech. But there were a couple of submissions that hinged on Soggy tech that has now been removed from the game, so all I can do there is apologise for the awkward timing. Today we’ll showcase a bunch of lists that do remain very relevant after the update, and we’ll also publish an updated version of the winning list ready for GHB 26-27, complete with new Battle Tactic selections and the works, over on the Patreon.
I’ve already written a piece on how I see Cogforts being used effectively, and it’s worth noting that the Cannonade offers efficient-enough shooting when you consider how tough it is:
So that’s enough about what I think, now let’s have a look at what you all think.

Grey Seer (110)
Regiments of Renown
Outlaw Conquerer Cogfort
Faction Terrain
Gnawhole
Joint credit for this one goes to both Tom and Haydn in the Skaven Whatsapp, because Haydn did cook up some of the tech.

The juice in the list is that the Gutter Runners and Crixxit go inside the Cogfort, then when they come out Crixxit gives the runners +2 to charge. Crixxit himself can then either charge in from 9″ or teleport directly in to join them in combat on a 3+.
You get +1 Damage from the Conqueror which always combos really gracefully with any Crit Mortal effects:

So any Crits you roll deliver mortals x extra damage, and the spike potential just goes up exponentially.

The output on the Gutters is 31x Damage 2 attacks with Crit Mortals, while Crixxit himself is popping 13x Damage 3 attacks against heroes, again with the mortals:

The good news with Skavenbrew is that it works in the Combat phase, so you don’t need to worry about the Gutter Runners being off the board and hiding inside the Cogfort in the Hero phase:

So the Deathmaster slaps a few damage on the Gutter Runners but he gets them up to 4 attacks each, and now we’re really cooking.

The fact you can’t reinforce the unit in the Cogfort is obviously a major limitation, so finding an unreinforced unit that can put out so much pain seems like one of the better options out there.

Cogfort Raiders (450)
Outlaw Conqueror Cogfort
It’s hitting all the right notes: those Royal Beastflayers will be going inside the Cogfort with the Decapitator, gaining a little charge bonus from him, and potentially from Ushoran’s delusion as well. Impassioned Serfs has gone away but it’s not a core part of the list tech; what’s much more relevant is that you can still get those Beastflayers into a Feeding Frenzy for extra attacks with your main Battle Trait, for 4 attacks per model all delivering Damage 2. Pretty spicy.
Notes From Our Discord
A couple of cool Cogfort list ideas were shared in the Craic House Discord, but each of them had Soggy tech at their heart. I’ll share them here partly to celebrate the creativity, but also to flag up the tech that they involved so you can keep out an eye for similar abilities that might crop up in your own armies:
- P’tit Fut had the idea of putting Moonclan Grots in the Conqueror, and when they jump out, they in turn release Soggy Fanatics who can pack a heavy punch but crucially, they could also move closer to the enemy for a shorter charge after they deploy.
- Mr Boardwide and Calvin Rarie each crafted a Gargant Gunline using the Cannonade, and the Macrusher Mob Battle Formation, so every unit either had juiced-up shooting attacks or Shitty D3 mortals in the shooting phase. Extra attacks on the Gatebreaker shooting profile are cash money and the new Gatebreaker warscroll can achieve a similar effect in this new handbook, and that’s something I’m keen on exploring.
- Calvin also cooked up a sweet Nighthaunt combo with the Lord Vitriolic, where he jumps out and makes an important enemy hero targetable. So then you target him.

The full list is in the footnotes, and it’s pretty durn cool1.
WWRD?
There are some good comments on the Reddit post sharing our initial Cogfort article, covering FEC, Khorne, S2D, Skaven and Fyreslayers. So if you play any of those armies, check out this thread, and cheers to everyone who shared their ideas on there:
So thank you to everyone who took part in the June ’26 Listbuilding Challenge, and I’ll be in touch with Tom Skelton and Haydn to get you both added to the Patreon as promised. We’ve got another banging idea for the next Listbuilding Challenge but I’ll let it breathe for a little bit before we come back with that one – and in the meantime, I’m gonna be working on those Gargant Gunline lists with the new Gatebreakers and a Cannonade.
Have a good weekend, nerds – catch you on the other side.

If you’d like to help us continue our work, we’d love to have your support. All Patreon Tiers include Discord access, exclusive articles and regular contests. Our Tiers are priced to be within everyone’s reach, so please click here to join us today!

- Here’s Calvin’s full list for anyone interested. It makes heavy use of the Soggy Black Coach, but the core idea of taking the Lord Vitriolic for a ride then shooting the crap out of something important could still be salvaged: ↩︎
