Launching the Plastic Craic Global Campaign 2026: Shadow of the Colossus

Today we’re fucken stoked to reveal the full details for our 2026 Matched Play Campaign: Shadow of the Collosus1. This year’s campaign follows on from the events of our 2025 Campaign Secrets of the Agloraxi and the overarching idea is that you can play your normal 2000 point Matched Play armies in any game, and log the results.

We’ve put a lot of work into creating a map campaign that everyone can get involved in, hardcore tourney players and garage gamers alike2:

  • You can log your games and hobby achievements from any game, including taking your matched-play army to competitive events.
  • At the end of each round, teams will claim locations on the map (teams who logged the most wins get first pick of the best locations) and harvest resources. You can also earn resources for your team from hobby achievements.
  • These resources are spent on kitting-out and customising your team’s Kaiju, and at the end of the Campaign, the Kaijus will fight one another to determine the winner!

We’ve also been sure to keep the burden of taking part to an absolute minimum:

  • Everything is tracked by positive contributions. So even if you’re not playing a lot of games right now, anything that you do contribute can only help your team.
  • There are hobby and narrative challenges you can complete without playing games.
  • The map campaign itself and kitting out your Kaijus has a bit of strategy which you can contribute to in the team Discords that we’ll be setting up.

We had players across 7 countries and 3 continents last time around, oo hopefully this year will be even bigger and better. The campaign itself is certainly pretty ambitious: we’ve got loads of surprises lined up that will be revealed throughout the campaign, and two people (myself and Aussie Wargamer) actively GM-ing to keep things on track.

A couple more fun things we’ve got lined up:

  • “Mission of the Round”: We’ll be updating some classic Realmgate Wars campaign missions to be AOS4 compatible. You can totally just play the current GHB missions and make strong headway for your team, but if you do play one of these missions, you gain extra resources for your team.
  • Everyone gets a +1: By popular request, every Patron can invite a friend to take part in the campaign this year, and we’ll add them to the Discord with a special role. We’ll also allocate you to opposing teams as far as possible, so your local friendly games have a bit extra at stake.

The most recent Battlescroll update means it’s a great time to launch, as we all pick up our armies for the new cycle, so if you do want to get involved, there’s still time to join the Patreon and shoot me a message. We’re launching on Monday 12th October and all you need to do to take part is:

  • Be a paid Patreon member (or invited by one)
  • Tell me you’re taking part and which army you want to bring

Then I’ll assign you to your teams, and get the Discord side all lined up. There’s a few surprises lined up here so hopefully it should make us all a lot of memories.

Here’s the full rules:

Updates on the progress of this Campaign are going to be a major focus of what we publish here over the next couple of months, so I’ll wrap it up by saying that I really would encourage all Craicheads to get involved. Any games you do play will only make a positive contribution to your team – we’ve set it all up so you can’t make a negative impact by not playing much or losing a lot – and even if you’re not expecting to play much over the next few weeks, you can contribute to the discussion on map strategy and kitting out the Kaijus.

It should be a lot of fun.

Opening map designed by Tim Barklay. Secret locations will be unlocked as the Campaing progresses!

  1. Yup, I remember it. I played through the whole damn thing on PS2 back in the day. ↩︎
  2. Most people are both, myself included. Point is, you just don’t need to worry that this is some whacky narrative thing that will stop you getting practice in with the current GHB. ↩︎
